Arno Smit – CEO
Arno graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2003 with a B.Com Financial Analysis degree. Thereafter he joined Old Mutual PFA as a financial advisor and upon completion of the internal training he advised clients on financial planning and products offered via Old Mutual PFA. In 2004 he moved to a medium sized multi manager firm taking on the position of fund analyst and administrator, this entailed completing due diligences on potential fund managers and doing all client administration required.
Arno joined Sasfin Frankel Pollak Securities as a junior portfolio manager in 2006. During this time, he completed registered person, equity and JSE trader’s exam. His responsibility was private client portfolio management. During 2007 Arno joined Blue Ink Funk Managers as a Portfolio Manager overseeing and managing investment portfolios. In late 2008 Blue Ink Fund Managers was sold and renamed Skyblue Fund Managers.
Arno currently acts as the CEO for Skyblue Fund Managers and he is also a regular contributor to radio and television as a market commentator.
Kevin was educated at Grey High school in PE before graduating from the University of Port Elizabeth with a B.Com in 1982. He then went on to work in Sports Management until 1994, becoming the Managing Director of Eastern Provence Cricket from 1987 – 1994. Kevin then joined the investment industry in 1996 and was able to start his own business by 2002. By 2007 Kevin was able to join forces with the Skybound Capital Group which formed Skyblue Fund Managers.
Kevin enjoys playing golf, watching sport and discovering interesting wine to enjoy with good friends, as well as being fascinated by the market dynamics in this changing world.
Lynette joined the financial services industry in 2006 with Southern Charter Financial services as a personal assistant, where she later gained the skills to operate as a tax consultant. In 2008 she joined Skyblue Fund Managers as personal assistant, tax consultant and a compliance specialist where her duties include processing administration duties for the company, money laundering reporting, and tax enquiries. She also serves as the skills development officer as well as the internal compliance officer.
Lynette completed a certificate in taxation in 2011, Skyblue Tax Services was created as a dedicated entity to manage all new and existing client tax enquiries. Lynette is currently in the process of completing her Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting.
One of Lynette’s favourite hobbies is surfing at Muizenburg Beach and she is an animal lover where she undertakes to complete many hours of volunteer work during the course of the year.
Eben graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a B.Com degree in 2014, majoring in Statistics, Financial Management, and Investment Management. He then completed his Bcomm(Hons) Financial Analysis degree the following year, as well as starting the CFA journey by completing the CFA level 1 examination. Eben is currently studying towards the completion of the CFA level 2 exam.
Eben started working at Skyblue Fund Managers at the beginning of 2016 as an Investment Analyst where he assists in asset allocation, financial analysis and selection of holdings.
Eben enjoys staying active, social gatherings and generally any type of adventure.
Christiaan van Wyk
Christiaan graduated with a BComm Business Science degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2016. In the same year he took his first step towards the CFA designation by passing the CFA Level 1 exam in December 2016. He successfully completed his BComm Hons Financial Analysis degree in 2017. Currently Christiaan is studying towards the CFA Level 2 exam.
His journey with Skyblue Fund Managers started in January 2018, taking on the role of investment analyst. His role in the organisation includes asset allocation, fund selection and bespoke equity portfolio management.
Whilst being dedicated to the academic side of his career, Christiaan is also an active member of the surfing and kitesurfing community of Cape Town. As a member of the Stellenbosch University’s Wine Society he developed a keen interest in SA wines. Christiaan believes that spending time with family and friends, enhances the much needed balance between work and leisure.
